The journey that brought me to birth
Hey there! I’m so glad you found my website! I would love to tell you a little more about who I am…
My name is Erika Campbell. I am happily married to my husband, Mark! He is my best friend and my running partner for life! He is also the one who holds down the fort and keeps the home running smoothly when I am away at a birth or attending to a postpartum mama!
I am also so blessed to be called mama to 3 of my own precious arrows! My kiddos are such a joy, filling my days with lots of laughter, learning, and messes It is through my journey into motherhood that I discovered my passion for childbirth! But more on that later….
When I am not attending a birth, meeting clients, or snuggling a sweet new baby for a postpartum mama, I am busy homeschooling my kids, attending church, making memories, and learning how to perfect my homemaking skills
I didn’t always want to be a doula. Believe it or not, if you would’ve told my 18 year old self that one day in the future, I would be immersed in the birthing world, I would’ve laughed at you! It was not at all on my radar then, yet it is now something I am so very passionate about now!
When I was pregnant with my firstborn, I began understanding the amazing connection between my body and my growing son, and my mind was blown! Birth was such a beautiful and incredible design! I read and watched everything I could get my hands on about natural childbirth in preparation for my upcoming birth. While I was able to have a natural childbirth like I desired, it wasn’t all roses, and I realized that even with all the reading I had done, I still had so much to learn!
Fast forward 4 years to my third birth, my second successful homebirth! I was so nervous about doing something new and unknown, but excited! I was able to glean from the wisdom I had gathered during my first birth and postpartum experience and apply it towards my following 2 births! While it still wasn’t a walk in the park, it was truly night and day from my first birth! I had grown so much as a mother, and as a woman through these experiences. I felt empowered and strong.
It was through these experiences that I realized I wanted to help other women feel that same strength and empowerment as they went through one of the most beautiful and vulnerable experiences of their lives. Childbirth, breastfeeding and postpartum health became a passion of mine because of my own personal story, and I knew I wanted to be that support system for other families! I began my certification process and never looked back! It brings me such joy to see a mother hold her precious baby for the first time, to see a husband be an unwavering support system for his wife, and to see the beautiful design of life at work!
